As someone who’s experienced the ravages of drug addiction for most of my adult life, I can safely say that Narconon Vista Bay is probably the only facility that could have helped me permanently overcome my demons and kick the drug habit that was wrecking my life. At 44 years of age, I’ve spent literally half of my life in and out of various drug rehab facilities. It reached the point where I could memorize the programs; do my stint in detox, sit through the classes, talk to an analyst now and then, graduate and run out to get another fix. LA is teeming with addiction treatment centers but that’s not quite the case in Northern California. Narconon operates a facility near Placerville that finally provided the solution for me.
If you had met me on the street or at a function, you probably wouldn’t have guessed I was a drug addict. I didn’t dress strangely, I didn’t have long hair and I wasn’t in a band or any of our other stereotypes of the drug abuser. Mind you, I did meet more that a few of these people during my time at Narconon, but I was always part of that iceberg component of drug abusers (the one’s you don’t immediately see as opposed to the obvious cases who represent the “tip”). I had an MBA, a wife, I worked as a product manager for one of the top computer companies and the closest I came to Narconon Vistabay during my day to day activities was to maybe drive by in my Navigator on the way to a retreat. Unfortunately, once I reached the retreat, I’d turn to my drug of choice: cocaine. While I was able to keep up the pretense of being a professional (I was a high functioning addict), I would slip up on occasion, eventually costing me my job.
If I’d known about the program at Narconon Vista Bay at that time, I could have saved myself a lot of grief, a lot of time and a lot of money. I ended up beginning a seemingly never ending cycle between ineffective drug treatment programs and landing a new job. I always had cash at my disposal, but rather than investing in solid treatment, I’d go with some local clinic, land on my feet, relapse and start the cycle again.
The turning point finally came when my wife got tired of the nonsense, called 1-800-556-8885 and spoke to a Narconon counsellor. They suggested that a change of scenery might help and one of the northern California Narconon facilities would be a good place to start. It turns out that they were right and for the first time I had a fighting chance to turn my life around. My wife will be the first to say that the relaxed atmosphere, all inclusive package and effective 12-step program made Narconon Vistabay seem like a bargain. I’ve been clean since, but the 30 day free readmission guarantee was welcome peace of mind.
